Contact Sheet is my irregular column of good to great Second Life photographs I’ve found in exploring through blogs, Flickr and Koinup. I have a pack of regulars that I tend to dwell on, but you are welcome to nominate a suggestion for possible inclusion in a future column. Just send me an IM or notecard in world, or write to harper.ganesvoort@gmail.com. Make sure you include the URL of the image(s), else I can’t do a thing!
You can also nominate your own work, of course! If you do so, please give me permission to place a copy of the image in the column itself. I almost always link back to the page of origin, but I like to have something to show in the column as well. You retain all rights.
Comments are welcome — please! — both at the photographers’ pages and in the columns.

If you’re interested in tips for taking good photos in the Second Life viewer, check out this page in the SL Wiki by Torley Linden. This does not deal with the artistic question; you must develop your own aesthetic. But if you wish to get the maximum mileage out of the viewer settings, read this and try some of the settings. More tips are in this article at JuicyBomb. And check out the following as well, all by Cajsa Lilliehook:
- Photo cropping and the Rule of Thirds
- Setup suggestions for V2 and V3 viewers
- WindLight controls on V2 and V3 (Incidentally, a thing I discovered is that the V2/3 color settings are in RGB format, while V1 were in percentage format. To get the proper number for each value of RGB, multiply the corresponding decimal by 256.)
- Lighting, shadows and projectors
