=====

Some may wonder how I find so many great photos to talk about here in Contact Sheet.  The simple answer is very simple and obvious; I hang out on Flickr or Koinup.

The longer story:  Like many Flickr/Koinup users, I’ve developed a pool of favorite “contact” photographers, whose work I follow pretty regularly — more so on Flickr than Koinup for some reason.  It’s especially easy on Flickr; you can have the Yahoo system send you automatic messages whenever one of your contacts adds material to their photo stream.  I believe they check automatically every 30-60 minutes, and will combine updates into one message if several contacts have updated in a given period.  Koinup is a little more complicated in one sense; you subscribe to an RSS feed for each contact.  However, you can collect the feeds in Thunderbird (my E-mail client) for easier viewing.

To get to the new people, I scrounge through groups.  You share and publicize your own work through the platforms’ groups, of course; I belong to or administer 230 groups on Flickr, and nearly 200 on Koinup.  I don’t go through all those groups, of course, otherwise I wouldn’t get anything else done; and I do want a life or two here, you know.  But, when I see something that intrigues me, I’ll check at least a few of the groups the artist has placed it in to see if there’s any more stuff that catches my eye from someone I haven’t run into before.  I’ve added 5 or 10 people to my pool in recent days in this manner.

For instance, here are a few fashion shots from Kidman Latte, a Resident since 2008, not long after I arrived in Second Life, but a poster in quantity on Flickr only since this past January.  I’ve just now encountered here work, and her style is excellent!
