Falling to his knees, the petitioner stretched out his arms and sent his voiceless plea to the skies, sending forth his plea to the goddesses with all his soul.
He soon got his answer.
“You interrupted our meditations for that???“ the goddess shouted, her face enraged at the petitioner’s impertinence. The walls of the temple trembled from the volume of the creature’s voice, while the man on the bolster before her cringed.
The goddess’ sister circled around to the fool’s backside, a sword of light materializing in her glowing hands. “You know that greater men than you have died at our hands for lesser sins than this.”
“But, gracious ladies,” the wretch burbled, arms outstretched, “I did not mean to offend!”
“And yet you did,” the goddess hissed. “And so you shall pay for what you have done.” She stretched forth a glowing hand, and the glow surrounded the poor fellow, who screamed and writhed — and then seemed to condense and curdle into himself. A flash of light, and then, where he had knelt, a silver platter rested, filled with a pile of a strange yellow substance.
The goddess picked the platter up and smiled grimly. “That should make the idiot happy. He did ask me to make him a plate of scrambled eggs, after all.”
Harper and Jem wear the Amina gacha outfit from Luas, and Singapore boots from KC Couture. Harper’s hair: no.match_no.sleep; Azoury Secret collar. Jem’s hair: Letituier Budha; Zibska Varushka collar. Conan’s outfit: T. E. D. Tuilo. All skins by Plastik (Constella/Constus series, various shades).
It’s close to midnight and something evil’s lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
‘Cause this is thriller, thriller night
And no one’s gonna save you from the beast about to strike
You know it’s thriller, thriller night
You’re fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight
Welcome to New Jericho, a “city of the future” built in a ring-habitat style, and home to thousands of people working, recreating, and (most important) doing research. It’s just that someone has apparently been doing research on the Wrong Thing….
If you’re curious, grab your plasma rifle, put on your running shoes, and follow the red arrows. And have sharp eyes — you’ll never know when something pops out at you…and they want to do more than just go “Boo!”
October’s here! Time to start getting in gear for Halloween, and I’ve got just the thing here. I was going to just publish these on Flickr, but at least a few of them are pretty decent; so I’ll do the same thing here as I did on there, publish them with text beneath to explain each scene in my story. It’s definitely a first for me, I’m not sure what Harper would have to say about this one. But if she can publish her stuff on here, so can I, and she’s been encouraging me to. You get to judge how I do.
Fair warning disclosure — there’s a lot of large pictures here. Have patience if it takes a little for them to load, please.
You can see the entire original collection in full size in the album on Flickr (aside from several I’m adding in here to help bulk out the collection, or that I reshot with Conan to improve things).
Tholosa the Exalted, the Witch-queen of the Empire of Oshor Chih — known not as The Exalted by her enemies, but as Tholosa of the Grave — takes her ease in her palace’s apartments, beneath a statue of one of the strange gods she worships. Even in the gloom of her rooms, this strange woman, who has conquered and absorbed into her empire kingdom after kingdom, glows with a shell of power. This encourages her unlettered slaves to believe in her as a goddess, and puts to use the undesirable effect of all the sorcerous protections she has cast about her in self-defense.

Photographed in The Golden Delta, Fantasy Faire 2016
…But Fantasy Faire 2016 is not forgotten. Especially the amount of good that has been done here. As of my check a few seconds ago, the Relay for Life has raised L$ 7,380,456, or better than $29,000 in RL money.
The builds won’t be forgotten, either. My favorite (where I’m posing here, as Latifah) was The Golden Delta, based around an Egyptian theme, and there was also moody, misty Blackmoor, which I didn’t get any photos of myself; however, Conan shot some in a few spots. Jem and I both enjoyed our day at Sapphire Moon Lake — not surprisingly, as that was the home for the arts activities. You can see all our photos as I add them to my album on Flickr, or at our individual streams.
Latifah wore something similar last year, and most of the jewelry is the same, so we’ll just look at the changes to the costume here.
UPDATE: As promised, you can find all of the photo collection in full size in this Flickr album. Several are wallpaper size!

Publisher’s note: As you may know, I originally published this poem, written by me, in September 2011. Recently, though, I’ve wanted to polish it up a little and take new, less muddy photos to compliment it. This is my new effort, and I offer it to you, along with a brand-new framing story, for your consideration. More speech on the details and other aspects afterward….
Turn the page to read….
Where has your interrupted, ah, intrepid demon reporter been this past week or more? Walking — walking around all 13 bleedin’ sims of Fantasy Faire 2015. One of the top SL Relay for Life events, this year’s Fantasy Faire was bigger, more colorful and more fun than ever, running the gamut of the Four Elements and showing off the creativity of Second Life builders and designers more than ever. I know this because I covered almost every blessed meter of it on foot, in heels. Oh, my achin’ dogs!!!
(A pack of passing puppies looks up and barks in curiosity.)
Okay, okay, I did my share of flying…and swimming, too. I was even frozen in a block of ice for a time, until someone let it go. (Let it go, let it go!!!!! [THWAP!!!])
Uh…. My lawyers advise me that, before I get myself into trouble with certain people with large black ears and a tail, I’d better just change topic. So, I took a scad of photos, all of which can be found at my Flickr stream in a special album, as well as in their Fantasy Faire group. (The last few will be going into the group tomorrow because of submission restrictions.) To tempt you into checking out the collection, here’s about five or six of them, after the fold. Most of the photos, by the way, are at 1920×1080, which makes them excellent wallpaper size for modern monitors. Feel free to use for non-commercial purposes, just keep my signature on it.
