SmugMug Acquires Flickr & Flickr Alternatives for Second Life Residents – StrawberrySingh.com   Leave a comment

I’ve been wondering about this some myself since I first learned of the acquisition. Myself, I’ll stay with Flickr, as Berry is planning to, for now, at least until we learn more.

=====

On April 20th, 2018 SmugMug and Flickr simultaneously announced that Flickr was acquired by SmugMug. After years of being passed around from Yahoo to Verizon and not seeing a vast improvement on the platform, a lot of Flickr users seem to be worried about this new acquisition; especially since the announcements, emails and TOS updates […]

About Bakes on Mesh | Omega Solutions

Source: About Bakes on Mesh | Omega Solutions

Dun dun DUNNNN….! Ok, not really debunking! Frankly bakes on mesh is going to be great. I’m a HUGE fan. You’ll finally be able to wear as many tattoos, moles, makeup and other body mods as you want! Skin makers will be able to give you tattoos that let you mix and match your facial features! Calorie Free Bacon will rain from the sky! Ok, not that last one.. but still some great stuff!

A good discussion from the masters of Omega Solutions on the eventual workings of the now legendary Bakes On Mesh project.  Designers give this a read to understand what’s happening … and what’s not.

Second Life Project BakesOnMesh – StrawberrySingh.com

For me, this is a great reason to not throw away any tattoo makeup for now.  It’ll mean a heavier inventory, but if I can achieve the same layered makeup on my mesh heads as I did on the system heads, I’ll celebrate!

=====

I love the fact that Linden Lab continues to work on new features to improve Second Life, even after 15 years! Recently they did a blog post, 15 Reasons to Celebrate Second Life, and number 14 on the list was Bakes on Mesh. BakesOnMesh is a new feature that has NOT hit the main viewer […]

Reblogging ECLIPSE Magazine – Berry Singh

You probably saw Harper’s piece a while back about my not being able to write much for the blog anymore.  The good news is that things aren’t quite as drastic as I may have led her to think.  It’ll still be fun to get some time for writing, but it probably won’t be any worse than I already am, lol.

Anyway, when I let the boss know I’m still available, she asked me to do a fast one to link to the current issue of Eclipse Magazine.  Their cover story this month, written by Cajsa Lilliehook of It’s Only Fashion, is on Strawberry Singh.  But it’s not the usual fashion piece, like you’d see in the past on her (I’ve done some checking).  Berry is one of the more prominent and outspoken women within Second Life working for preservation of women’s and immigrant rights.  This lets her in for a lot of “criticism” — if you can really call it that.  Please be sure to read the article.

Bread and Roses: The Rising of the Women

I was never planning on making this a political blog, but recent events in American politics are rather pulling posts in that direction, at least for a brief time.  This won’t be a habit, but we wanted to put this in for your thought.

In the light of the world’s Marches on Washington this past Saturday, we’re sharing with you a blog article I found. I hope you will read it all when you hit the link, then take the power we share out into the street and the state house and the ballot box, and continue the struggle both for bread and for roses — the equality of the sexes, the recognition that we are people and not to be marginalized or objectified, the struggle for human dignity for all people, no matter sex or creed or country.

“What the woman who labors wants is the right to live, not simply exist — the right to life as the rich woman has the right to life, and the sun and music and art. You have nothing that the humblest worker has not a right to have also. The worker must have bread, but she must have roses, too. Help, you women of privilege, give her the ballot to fight with.”

—Rose Schneiderman, 1912

As we stood circled and gave final thanks to the Gods, spirits, and allies that inspirited the temple, the crows called outside and the sacred space shifted, changing it’s role like a breath held at length finally released.  Where a moment ago stood the Temple of the Morrigan and Her Tribe, was a simple bare hotel room stacked with sacred items and offerings.  …
