On a Lazy River

On a Lazy River

This summer’s hot, and so I’m taking a break in one of the rivers that wends through my property.  I shouldn’t have really done it — but, of course, this is virtuality, and so I can wear my shoes into a wet situation like this and not worry about ruining them.

And nice shoes they are, too.  New mesh flat sandals from Zaara, available in a variety of colors and with jeweled and beaded upper straps, they make a pair of SLink low/flat feet very attractive indeed.  Go not (yet) to Zaara’s store for these, though; she’s selling them through a store shack at Summerfest ’14, which is running currently in Pacific Isle region.  This extravaganza is busy right now, so you may need a few tries to get in.  She’s selling them along with a nice one-piece swimsuit.  (Not the one I’m wearing here, obviously; this is the bikini — and whoa, what a bikini! — sold by R2 at this month’s Collarbor88, and I thank Connie Arida for turning me on to this one!)

X is for — Xacuti

X is for Xacuti

And who is Xacuti?  No, it’s not a “who,” but a “what” — specifically this halter-top and “knickers” combo from Zaara that I’ve retrieved from inventory for Vanessa Blaylock’s challenge.  Zaara never goes out of style, whether vintage or new.

(Photographed in the Caddo region on Samsara mainland  —  it takes persistence to find a nice spot for photography on the Mainland, especially with a lot of it abandoned these days, but you can do it.  Just be prepared to narrow your view to a smaller panorama than full-sim.)

2014 Oscar Fashion Photo Contest — Final Update, What I’ll Wear to the Oscars

Time keeps ticking, ticking away….  There’s just two and a half days left until submissions close on this year’s Oscar Fashion Photo Contest.  If you haven’t entered yet, now’s the time!  As of my last check, I had 57 entries in the two groups — far more on Flickr than Koinup(Come on, Koinup people!)  And I see some very strong contenders.  Let’s see what you can do!

What would I wear this year? Click on and find out….

Ich bin Berliner — Berlin Wall, 50 Years

For years, the Brandenburger Tor, or Brandenburg Gate, was the image of Berlin in the imaginations of people.  Constructed in the late 1700s, it originally served as an actual gate to the city of Berlin, and stood at one end of the Unter den Linden, a monumental avenue of linden trees.

Then came the events of World War II and the Cold War.  The Gate became a symbol of Nazi Germany, and then eventually a symbol of the division of Germany into Western and Communist blocs, focused on Berlin.  And much of it has to do with a wall.

Zaara Syona Kurta

A quick one, as I’m suffering from a nasty sinus infection right now.  Fortunately, I wasn’t in Second Life, and I completed these shots the other night when I woke up in the middle of it all.  This kurta from Zaara unites Western-seeming cut with Indian taste in texture and color for a fabulous combination.

Zaara opted for tight-fitting churidar pants with the top, and included another of her fabulous scarves as part of the package.  I added some of her mojri flats for shoes.

=====

The details:

  • ClothesZaara Syona kurta (black), with Tanya dupatta scarf w/ tassels
  • Mani/pediSkin Within (Vixen)
  • Jewelry: Yak & Yeti wax bangles (green); Dahlinks Stage & Screen stud earrings (diamonds/gold)
  • Hair: Indulgence Allure red (cinder)
  • Shoes: Zaara Ilaida mojri flats (navy, but scripted for several colors)

Photos taken at Zaara region.

Ever’thing Green an’ Lovely

Since my computer was on the fritz again up until Wednesday afternoon, and I never got around to getting back in world after I got it home and hooked up, I never got a chance to wear what I’d planned on for Saint Patrick’s Day (sigh).  Don’t it just frost you?

But that doesn’t mean I can’t share it with you, can I?

For a daytime casual look, I decided to echo the theme of the Irish tricolor — or at least 2/3 of it.  I tried on a white wig, but was displeased with the effect, so I went back to the red of a true Irish colleen.  I did some hunting on XStreet, as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, to find a green top — in this case, the top from a gown in a silk brocade — and a pair of orange pants.  I was thinking of something a little plainer than this bodice, but it works quite nicely instead, giving the strapless corseted look that we all love so much.  The pumps make for an alternating color scheme; and, for the final touch, I’m wearing alternating green and “orange” (actually coral) jewelry, switching colors from the earrings to the bracelets.

  • Top: Preciouss’ Things Danielle (bodice from an evening gown)
  • Pants: DeLa Diva “Irina” pants (orange)
  • Hair: fri.day Jules (Jealous Red)
  • Nails: Skin Within Vixen manicure/pedicure
  • Shoes: Ivanka Akina Eternity pumps (green)
  • Jewelry: Zaara Kaya in malachite and coral — one earring and one set of bracelets from each color, alternating.
  • Glasses: epoque Swan shades (“loud” color; script-set to green frames, clear lenses)

And for the night, how about this…!

The gown is a green-and-white version of Astrid, a new dress from Clio, one of my favorite designers so far.  Clio Cardiff comes up with clean, lovely designs that are still wonderful, sophisticated and sexy.  For instance, this gown’s top is cut way low, but the shaping doesn’t leave half of my boobs hanging out, while still giving a provocative look at the cleavage.  Want an extra touch of femininity?  Add the bow attachment to the halter strap.  (It’s nice and flexible, which made for some great photographs!)

For the jewels, I decided to go dramatic and big, and chose these emeralds from my recent run through the Accessory Fair.  They’re made by GaNKeD, a store which is getting a lot of attention recently for some really sensational jewelry.  I wanted an extra splash, so I chose one of the “handrings” from the Hydra series by Rozoregalia.

  • Gown: Clio Astrid (green/white, with opera gloves)
  • Shoes: As above
  • Hair: ETD Cadey (copper; I’m not sure if Elika still sells this)
  • Jewelry: GaNKeD Jealousy suite (necklace, bracelet, earrings — emeralds in gold); Rozoregalia Hydra handrings (right wrist)

Photographed at my Secret Photo Studio at my art store in Desire region
