I just discovered this while running the Tag Surfer through the WordPress.com blogs. Liv Leigh reports on a thread in the general SL discussion forum that talks about Abbotts Aerodrome, one of the old timers of the Grid, closing on September 1. Reasons are uncertain at the moment why this is happening, but all regret losing another of the great ole places of the early days of Second Life.

Much so. Abbotts was one of the first places I visited in my early months, having learned about it from the spate of books published on SL in the “hot days.” I still have one of their jet pack HUDs, which I use more often than a flight feather — more control over the speed.
