Standing By the Sea   2 comments

Chess is a sea in which a gnat may drink, and an elephant may bathe.

Unknown proverb, variously attributed

Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make men happy.

It’s Jem’s Fault   4 comments

This is what the new house looks like from the land side. I had to temporarily derezz some of the trees in front to show it.

The weird thing about houses is that they almost always look like nothing is happening inside of them, even though they contain most of our lives. I wondered if that was sort of the point of architecture.

Moonlight   2 comments

There’s some interesting things at the current events and the Fantasy Faire, but I decided to dip into my back Inventory, and stumbled across this dress. Conan was kind enough to serve as mon bel amour for a shot (well, he does live in Québec), and here we are.

Moonlight becomes you
It goes with your hair
You certainly know
The right thing to wear

Moonlight becomes you
And I’m thrilled at the sight
And we could get

On Fantasy

Though I’m not much of a Game of Thrones fan — I bogged down in the first book at page 25, and I don’t get HBO — I do enjoy some parts of it. (My favorites are Daenerys and Tyrion.) Walking in Dublin

Put on my green pump shoes
And I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of my Dublin crew
In the middle of the pouring rain
Daniel O’Connell, won’t you look down over me
Yeah, I got a first class ticket
An’ I’m as green as a girl can be

Then I’m walking in Dublin
Walking with James Joyce striding at my heels
Walking in Dublin
But do I really feel the way I feel?

With many apologies to Marc Cohn

Téir abhaile riú

Look how the light of the town
the lights of the town are shining now
Tonight I’ll be dancing around
I’m off on the road to Galway now

Look how she’s off on the town
She’s off on a search for sailors though
There’s fine fellas here to be found
She’s never been one to stay at home

Home you’ll go and it’s there you’ll stay
And you’ve work to do in the morning
Give up your dream of going away
Forget your sailors in Galway

Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mháire
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta1
