I just have too much good stuff in my favorites folder at Flickr right now to wait. (Besides, I’m trying to write more often.) So we’re off with Volume 11 of Contact Sheet! And there’ll probably be a Volume 12 sometime soon.

This time out: a variety of stuff. Not all “artistic,” it should be said, but they got at least a smile from me if not a marking of “a fave,” and that’s worth it in the end. As always, I try to get in at least one or two that haven’t shown up in the column before, and that’s even better!

Jhuzen Ketsugo is also known on Flickr as DJ Ket-su. Hailing from RL Toronto, she runs the Retrology region with fashion flair and clubbin’ drive; in the latter, she and her partner Draco operate Pin-Ups, a quite popular venue. Retrology recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, and the krewe decided to throw a birthday bash, which Ketsy photographed. This series is the first instance of SL fireworks I’ve seen (I missed this past July 4, being off with my children for one of the local RL displays), and it’s impressive.

I’m not quite sure what this offering from Tarissa Tripsa is, except that the foreground head looking back over her shoulder, the hairstyle, and the general composition of the piece impress me greatly. Note also the sign for Gilley’s behind the head; you can just make out the logo if you’re familiar with this RL country club.

But I think the thing that catches my attention most here is the parking garage in the right background. I’m expecting to see a sign saying “Max Headroom” somewhere in there!

Time to channel the past a little, and Florence Babenco of France does so in grand fashion. This portrait, done in sepia tones, gives me a feel of, say, a Thirties glamour shot, distantly related to Hurrell’s Hollywood pieces.

Where does this archway lead, and what powerful sorcerer carved it, possibly from the living rock itself? The builder knows, of course, but so possibly does Gita Rau. This seeming sunset shot gives the photo both a lonely beauty, and perhaps an air of foreboding. Those who pass this gate may have their lives changed…forever.

Regular readers know of my fascination for amazing hair. Does this qualify as hair? According to Cerdwin Flanagan, it sure does. It’s a chromium steel mohawk and horns! The picture was taken at the Musa Artis sim; Cerdwin provides an SLurl.

In a very curious self-portrait, Kean Kelly, also known as 2K, emerges from the mists…. Is this her forcing her way out of a dream, as one commenter suggests distantly in a quote from a poem?

Time to move on for now!  As always, let me know of any suggestions you may have for other artists to consider and place in a future column.

For this edition of Contact Sheet, I’m presenting some ultra-glamour couture from a regular hand and fellow blog publisher; art builds photographed by another Resident; a nice landscape; a bit of humor; and a case of the Eye has it.

Blogger Jhuzen Ketsugo also goes by the Flickr handle of DJ Ket-su. Her blog, Virtual Fashion Addict, is known for its regular “Look of the Day” column, in which Jhu models an outfit in detail.

For this article, Jhu described being invited to a motel opening by a friend, who specified that the party was glam dress. She assembled a costume that fit the bill to a T, while being eclectic and ultra fierce, in her words. The two photos she used are also in the article; but it’s easier to work from her copies on Flickr (which is where I found them anyway). [Photo 1, Photo 2, Photo 3] The whole ensemble is great, except for (to my taste) the bracelet set; but note especially the earrings and the hairstyle.
