Afternoon At Santa Eulalia

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A fast one today, as I’m hurtling off to an a.m. shift at RL work for once!  Here’s the essentials; I may turn this into something more literate later.  I can say now that, aside from the skin, this entire ensemble cost perhaps less than L$1,200, so it’s something to consider.  Larger versions of the pictures are at Flickr or Koinup.

The details:

  • Skin: PXL Faith (sunkissed, light eyebrows)
  • Hair: Tukinowaguma Fiamma (red)
  • Eyes: Poetic Colors Gold Flakes (sapphire)
  • Dress: uniQue Fashion vero Blue (silver, mesh, standard sizing)
  • Shoes: EarthStones Lalika sandals (pitch; no longer available)
  • Jewelry: je suis tente ring (sky, modified to opal); Dahlinks Woven Chain stacked bracelets (silver); LyGyo Flexus cuff bangle (silver); LaGyo Atratus ring (silver); DDL silver/opal ring; EarthStones Faith cross necklace
  • Makeup: Natural Beauty Set 5, Makeup 11; BOOM Liquid Glaze eyeliner (silver, lashed)

London City Mod!

If you’re Olympic crazy, like I can be at times, you have to stop in to the host city; you just have to!  Unfortunately, most of my money goes into keeping a RL house over my head, so I chose to visit London City instead.  When I got there, the joint was jumping; over 80 avatars were hanging out around the central Regents Park, with spillover into the other two related sims.  But I still managed to get a few nice shots in. Bliss Couture Zaks

It’s good to get back into modeling harness here.  It’s been so RL busy lately that I haven’t taken the time to just sit down and do the work needed for a good fashion shoot.  But I squeezed out a block of time from supervising my daughter from afar, and working on recreating a story that was lost in one of my several computer crashes, and forcing myself to ignore Pinterest for a while, and got this photographed.  It helped that the dress seized my attention!

The only thing new on me here is the dress, which is brand spanking fresh from Amutey Decuir and Bliss Couture.  It’s called Zaks, and I fell in love with the print pattern on it when I saw the publicity photos on Flickr.  It’s so soft and feminine and reminds me of water plants, so I went to the Water Temple at Cerridwen’s Cauldron to photograph this.

The one thing I don’t absolutely like about this dress is the shape of the skirt itself.  It definitely attracts attention, but it seems a little weird to be walking around in, even as an evening gown (which is what I believe Amutey intends this dress to be).  I was wearing this, however, when I got in touch with one of the estate managers at my house to fix a few problems, and the first words out of her were that she loved this dress.  This, then, like all of fashion, is a case of Your Mileage May Vary.  (It also varies for me in the sense that I don’t see this as an evening gown, but perhaps one for a daytime party or a resort.  Again, this is how I’m interpreting it with my personal sense of style.)

Your SL Evolution (via A Passion for Virtual Fashion)

Harper Beresford has been a guest fashion expert at the Second Life Forums recently, and the other day, she asked a question. Read the fruits of that question here….

=====

Your SL Evolution I asked a question on the SL Forums the other day about how people had changed over the years in SL, and I got quite a wonderful response. Marianne Little provided a sort of format that allowed people to see her evolution over her time in SL and many people chimed in in like fashion, and it was a lot of fun. There are a lot of amazing avatars out there. (Above was my hastily assembled filmstrip and what’s amazing is I can tell you almost everythi … Read More

Lighthouse

Isla Menorca

The rocky ledge runs far into the sea,
and on its outer point, some miles away,
the lighthouse lifts its massive masonry,
A pillar of fire by night, of cloud by day.

And as the evening darkens, lo! how bright,
through the deep purple of the twilight air,
Beams forth the sudden radiance of its light,
with strange, unearthly splendor in the glare!

The Lighthouse, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The lighthouse here is in Isla Menorca, and I discovered it from the opening wallpaper on Emerald Viewer.  Emerald has this nifty ability to visit the place that the wallpaper picture was taken at.  And Isla is an excellent place:  a series of islands — not the ones set up as house lots, but far more like something on the New England or Canadian east coast of North America.  A lighthouse on one of the outcroppings here would be appropriate indeed….

Position Open for SL Style Magazine Editor

Regulars of this blog will know my enjoyment of the Frank’s Place complex of clubs, run by Gymmy and Nanceee Sinatra.  Now the Sinatras are planning a new undertaking:  a magazine of SL style and living, called Sinatra Style.  They’ve offered me the position of editor, but I was forced to turn it down with thanks and appreciation.

Gymmy is interested in hearing from others interested in trying their hand, and so I’ve offered to announce the position for him.  Applicants should have a background in writing, publishing or editing; no other special qualifications listed at this time.  Contact Gymmy Sinatra in world by notecard for inquiries and application.
