Kia Kaha Stopover   Leave a comment

A quick visit here for me. I was trying to get this up much earlier on Friday, before this week’s Fifty Linden Fridays finished up, but didn’t make it. The skirt and wrapped sweater, however, are from Caboodle, and I think they’re part of a standard set of separates, so you can still get them — just not at the sweet L$ 50 price.

=====

I’m wearing:

  • Head: Akeruka Monika 2.5 Bento
  • Body and hands: Maitreya Lara 4.1
  • Eyes: IKON Sovereign (Passion)
  • Hair: Truth Yelena
  • Nails: SlackGirl Cheila
  • Outfit (all by Caboodle): Camille skirt and tied sweater (Azure); Mirja crop top and bra; Elia boots
  • Eyeshadow: SlackGirl LilZara (Akeruka, slot 2)
  • Lipstick: Zibska Tamsen (Omega, slot 5)

Fast Plane Flying   Leave a comment

With a sigh of relief, Lisavet Darchiev turned away from the gateside ticket counter and stepped away toward a nearby coffee shop on the airport concourse. She had already pocketed her ticket and other travel documents in her jacket, had moved everything metallic in her pockets into her carry-on bag, and had passed through the minor hell of the TSA checkpoint with a minimal loss of dignity. Now, with maybe two hours until her flight for Los Angeles boarded, she could get a cup of tea and put herself back together.

And, barring disasters, hijackings and breakdowns, I should make it home in time for the Oscar ceremony. Thanks be to Saints Cyril and Methodius, Saint Basil, and maybe I’ll throw in Francis de Sales, the patron of authors, for good measure. Maks might forgive me for missing the night, but Piper never would … she looks forward to our annual karaoke date every year. The thought made her giggle as she pushed through the doors to the cafe, causing a few heads to turn and glance at her in curiosity.

Pausing to Refresh   Leave a comment

You have to take some time to enjoy the day when you get the opportunity, and so Diana and I are pausing in our shopping to get some iced tea. (I guess it’s iced; that’s the only reason for the glasses. Perhaps they’re just using the teapot to carry the tea.)

Bay City Morning   Leave a comment

I can tell you this, because I live just across the state, only maybe four counties away from the real-world Bay City — it don’t look this good right now. Freezing rain, snow, winds, and the temperature’s taking a plummet. It comes close to tempting me to take on Diana’s attitude about sunny skies. Not even the fur shrug I’ve got on would help much, and anyone who wears a mini in Michigan in January really should have their head examined.

Vest In Search of a Poem   Leave a comment

WANTED:  Poem involving the metal or color of silver.  Should be between 14 to 50 lines in length, any style okay.  Treacly “greeting-card” verses need not apply.  Song lyrics should include an MP3 or video, so that author may see if she approves of the song.  Apply to jemsternhall@ ….

Why am I resorting to the want ads to find a poem? Don’t we have a librarian on staff to help me, as well as any reference librarians at my local library? Well, I tried them, as well as searching on my own. And none of us — not even Harper, who tends to turn simple requests into Major Projects, could find a one. Or, well … not an example I liked, anyway …. There were plenty of pieces with “silver” in their titles, or involving silver imagery of some kind, but not the kind of imagery that resonated with me.

If I Have To Do Winter ….   1 comment

… then let me have a nice warm cashmere sweater. Something that’ll keep me warm even if the shoji is thrown wide open. This one may have a huge gap up the center of the back, but it does the job, it’s stylish, and I just keep the fireplace stoked.

Sojourn in Sindaria

When last we met, Jemmy was giving me the Dickens — in a joshing sort of way — over not properly introducing Morgan to the readers … in a Technicolor photoshoot of colorful alien skins and fantasial costumes.

To which … I agreed that she was right. And, as Morgan looked on in fascinated horror, I started to make my plans ….
