Christmas Fashion 2 — Winter Fantasy   1 comment

I was gonna invoke shades of The Nutcracker here, but this area doesn’t quite fit the bill. Oh, well, lol. It’s still pretty, though.

I’ve developed a partiality for United Colors, and this gown is one of their best. Lots of colors available, and you can choose either opaque or nicely sheer. (I’d go for the opaque for the party season, myself, but I don’t know what parties you’ll be going to ….)

Christmas Fashion 1 — O Holy Night   Leave a comment

All of the blog women have shot photos for Christmas card — which will be coming up on the 25th, by the way — and we’re also adding our dresses as fashion photos.

O holy night
The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of our dear Saviour’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope
The weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angel voices
O night divine
O night when Christ was born
O night divine
O night, o night divine

Téir abhaile riú   2 comments

Look how the light of the town
the lights of the town are shining now
Tonight I’ll be dancing around
I’m off on the road to Galway now

Look how she’s off on the town
She’s off on a search for sailors though
There’s fine fellas here to be found
She’s never been one to stay at home

Home you’ll go and it’s there you’ll stay
And you’ve work to do in the morning
Give up your dream of going away
Forget your sailors in Galway

Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mháire
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta1

Cargo Deck   Leave a comment

It’s hard enough getting around a spaceport, they’re often such huge and rambling places.  When the hovercab drops you at the wrong entrance, though, that adds on even more complication.  Especially when the entrance the silly AI chooses is the entrance to the cargo deck — a place where nobody in their right mind is walking around, at least if they don’t have legitimate business there.  And then add that the cargo deck is a cargo deck — it’s 5,000 metres up from the surface, to get it out of view of the local burghers.  And I’m up here on a grid floor in spike-heel boots!

Some days, you can’t lin for the woosing ….

Oh, well; at least I’m warm in the wind … well, mostly warm; but at least I thought to put a top on under the traveling outfit.

Lunch Break   2 comments

Note:  WordPress is starting to feed out new software for their blog.  Harper’s been playing with it, and has gotten mostly used to it, but I’m just beginning to learn the thing.  However, I like some of the gimmicks it apparently has, and Harper’s given me a tip sheet on what to do, as well as the new “style book” for laying out an article, so here goes ….

Graduate school was always a busy time for students; it had been since the medieval days of old Europa on ancient Earth, and it hadn’t changed just because it was now the 48th Century C. E.  But wise students always found some kind of time to come up for air from their studies if they wished to preserve both their grades and their sanity.  Zana Sherman was no different from other students in that sense.  True, as a cyborg, she had a few not-to-sneeze-at advantages over her organic friends, like a brain and body that did not tire in the same way as an organic body did.  But the personality and thought processes that resided in that computer body still functioned in ways similar to a flesh-and-blood person; and that part of her still fatigued in ways similar to a flesh-and-blood body.  Even in this, some things never seemed to change, no matter how many centuries went by.

Hallowe’en 2018 — Hidden Treasures   Leave a comment

Jem and I were planning on doing an outfit or two from the new round of Tres Chic, which almost always have some great outfit to write about.  Sadly, this time we didn’t find any clothes in the event (though I’m wearing hair and boots from this month’s round).  But we did find goodies we loved while we were in the sim.  After all, sales like Tres Chic, or sales inside individual stores, are meant to draw business in, so that customers will take a look at all the other goodies inside.  In an event’s case, you can think of the event as the “anchor store,” and any other stores around benefit from the business the anchor draws in as collateral sales.
